Lodge Thanked For Christmas Cheer By Widows
January 2019
By: Bro. John Mabey
Every year, at Christmas, the Lodge sends a gift of money to the widows of its late members. This is a common feature across all Lodges within Freemasonry.
This year, we as a Lodge have made a further effort to help do our best to remember our widows, not only a gift of money but also a large Christmas hamper … personally delivered.
Simple in principle, but not so when one of the widows lives in Paphos, Cyprus. A challenge, yes, however, Bro John Mabey, with his personal connections in country was able to organise something similar to be delivered.
Whilst speaking to the Lodge’s Almoner (Bro. Ian Harper), Beryl Tanner said, “It was amazing and so kind of you to think of me in such a generous way and to keep my late husband’s memory alive in such a wonderful way on your website”.
The feedback has been deeply humbling and heart-warming, highlighting how important this small but important annual duty of honour is for us due its profound affect for those on the receiving end.
