Family Sunday Carvery – Kingwood Golf Club

Firstly, I do not play and have yet to catch the golf bug. However, I have had the great delight and privilege of visiting a number of golf clubs over the years and what has always impressed me is the calm and relaxing ambience they exude.
So when my cousin, W.Bro Gordon Sidwell, affectionately known as “Siddy” proffered the idea of a Sunday carvery at Kingswood, quite simply, I couldn’t wait.
In particular, I was really enamelled by the idea having my family with me at a Masonic event. Whilst masonic meetings tend to be male thing, we also acknowledge our family is the largest part of our lives.
So what better way than to have a social event where Brothers can share good company with their family in wonderful surroundings. “Siddy” is an avid golfer, but knows a good water hole when he sees one.
Perhaps the Golf Club would take exception to compared to an African wildlife reservation, however, you haven’t had dinner with me and my family! The choice of location was inspired, easy access, incredible surroundings and wonderful club house, or as they call it, a Lodge. In reality. more like a 5-star hotel. Initially we were hoping we would get a total of 50 takers for the event, however, such is the strong bond between Brothers, this nearly reached 70 on the day.
If proof of the pudding is in the eating then the comments from those who attended perhaps gives an inkling of how the event was viewed.
To cap and close this, unreserved and heartfelt thanks goes to Tina and Gordon Sidwell who quietly did a huge amount of work behind the scenes to organise such a successful family orientated carvery ….. When’s the next one ?
