Sunday Families Christmas Carvery
2nd December 2018
By: Bro. John Mabey
Another year has rushed by and we are now in the second day of winter and what a wonderful place to celebrate it, with family, friends and Brothers.
Building on the overwhelming success and enjoyment of our summer carvery we returned to the Kingswood Gold Club, organised by our indomitable Assistant Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro Gordon Sidewell (Siddy) and his wife Tina.
In all, there were 76 who attended our Christmas families lunch, some who travelled up from as far as Folkstone and Brighton.
Others, like, my friend and proposer, Bro. Lt Col Ian Harper and his consultant surgeon wife, Tania, invited guests from work as a way of saying thank you to them for their support, commitment and loyalty over the year.
Perhaps the greatest success can be highlighted by the response from our guests:
“A really beautiful location to hold this year’s Christmas lunch and the food, well, quite simply superb. A very friendly bunch of people which reminded me of my late father who was a very active and committed freemason in East Grinstead ”
Rebecca Price
“ I was made to feel so welcome from the outset and so many turned up. Loved the location but the food was simply terrific. I feel really honoured to have been invited to join Porchway Lodge’s Christmas families lunch”.
