Heaven Touches Earth

The 11th November has for the UK been a central annual national tradition since its inauguration by King George V in 1919 where the nation and Common Wealth stopped to remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Armistice or Remembrance Day for me is a very special moment in the year as it reminds me I am not that far removed from those who paid so dearly for the liberties I enjoy today.

Whilst not as grand as the Cenotaph in London, my wife and I, along with many others, stood silently at the war memorial in Oxted to pay our respects and do what is right, remember the fallen. Especially, this year being the centenary of the end of the Great War.

It is perhaps fitting that this year in particular whilst taking a photo of the war memorial I captured something remarkable.

The light breaking on and highlighting the war memorial, whilst in the background, an angry and turbulent sky, with a rainbow linking the heavens to the earth. Visually poetic, and perhaps spiritually the promise as is written in our holy book.
