Bro John Mabey Becomes An Honoured Guest of The Northumberland Knights Templar

Bro John Maybe and his partner, Becca Price, made a huge commitment on Saturday 29 June to travel to Brinkburn Priory in Northumberland as honoured guests of the Masonic Knights Templar from whom take their name.

Whilst the journey took over 8 hours, the ambience of the Northumberland countryside more than made up for the discomfort with its vibrant and dramatic colours with the bright sunshine.

The occasion was to mark the 80th year following the consecration of the Knights Templar priory with a service of Thanks Giving and to remember all those brother knights who gave service to the Priory.

The masonic brother knights of Brinkburn meet in the Masonic hall in Morpeth.

The invitation came from Bro John’s proposer, Bro Ian Harper, who is a Bro. Knight of Brinkburn.

Bro John and Becca were warmly meet by the brethren in traditional northern form. Following being ushered to their seats in the Priory they were delighted with the military precision of the service where all brother Knights were in full Templar regalia and processed in great ceremony.

The service was attended by over 60 Knights (and their ladies ) many of whom hold Provincial and Great Priory honours. It was estimated there were over 160 who attended the Service.

Following the Service and a short drive, Bro John and Becca were invited to four course meal at the Templar’s masonic hall in Morpeth.

The food was a delight and wine plenty. John was taken aback during one of the four toasts, where his friend and Bro (Ian Harper) gave a short speech to the guests and on behalf of his Brother Knights. During his address he singled out Bro John and Becca thanking them both for making such a commitment to support the Priory. This was met with great approval by all.
“It was a great privilege to be a guest at such an important masonic event. Both Becca and I felt really appreciated being made so welcome. The service was so colourful and dramatic with the Knights dressed in white. It had the “wow” factor. So worthwhile making the trip and huge thank you to the Knights in Northumberland”
